Today, there are more comfortable and healthy contact lens options than ever before. Whether you are seeking a glasses-free look, wanting to replace your bifocals, or simply prefer wearing non-prescription sunwear, there’s a contact lens for you.

What Are My Contact Lens Options?

Most people can wear more than one type of lens, so it’s important to know the advantages and disadvantages of each. The following are lens options that our eye doctors may discuss with you during your exam:

Contact Lens Types:

Soft Contacts

  • Comfortable to wear
  • Must be replaced monthly, weekly, or daily, depending upon the type you wear
  • Provide correction for most prescriptions, including astigmatism
  • Recommended for sports

Gas Permeable (GP) Lenses

  • Offer sharp vision
  • Correct most vision problems
  • More durable and easier to care for than soft contact lenses
  • Take longer to adapt to and require consistent wear to maintain adaptation

Multifocal Lenses

  • Available in both soft and gas-permeable designs
  • Correct both distance and near vision, similar to bifocals

Color Contact Lenses

  • Available in both prescription and nonprescription forms
  • Enhance and/or change your eye color
  • Offered in a variety of styles for both light and dark eyes
